How To Manage Stress The Right Way

How’s your life? Can you still smile? Can you still say that it is worth living? Well, your answers to these simple questions provide a lot of implication about whether you are living a stressful life or not. And life is not free from stress. We are paradox creatures, right? And the more balls you juggle, the higher is your stress.

Look at your life at the moment. I know you are busy. I know you have lots of things to do and here is an article adding more burden to you. When you find it hard to sleep at night, don’t have time to eat, unhappy often, always on the rush, etc. these are implications that you are indeed living a stressful life.

And it is not good to be stressed. Imagine the health issues you might encounter because of your stressful life. While stress cannot be avoided, there are things that you can do in order to manage it. Just like the nervousness that you feel when you are standing in front of people talking, stress cannot be avoided. Accept it! You are vulnerable to stress as long as you live.

Set priorities. Sometimes we are the makers of our stresses. And we can stop creating more stressors in our lives if we are going to set priorities. We need to evaluate our lives and know the important things to do. Well, you probably have so many things to do right now, but you have to identify which among them is nearing its deadline. Normally, in an office, the scenario is this: A good office worker will evaluate all the existing works to do and list down their deadlines. Aside from that, he will also identify the amount of time needed to finish that work. And then, after doing that, he will set priorities. The priority list includes the work that should be done first, second, third, fourth, etc.

When you do this, you will feel that you are not in a hurry always. Being in a hurry always is stressful. You will have to give up your sleep at night because you have things to do. And imagine the health risks of not having enough amount of sleep. It is important to set priorities in order to manage stress.

Manage your time. When you are set to do a certain task, it is important to manage your time. You have to count the number of hours you need to spend working the whole day. So if you have to work for 8 hours, you know exactly the things to do on the first, second, third, fourth, up to the eight hour. With this you will be able to be productive with your work.

At the end of the day, when you are able to manage your time, you can measure the amount of work you have finished and plan ahead for the next day. Time management is important in order to manage stress. If you plan well your activities daily, you will have enough time to rest and do other things that are important. Well, it’s a matter of mastering your time. If you can do this, you can master your life. Another, you have to protect your relationships since that can also give you stress if problems will occur.

Delegate tasks. You are stressed because sometimes you are doing all the tasks alone. This should not be the case. If you are working in a team, you need to delegate the tasks and trust your co-workers that they will be able to do their part well. Remember that a good leader can delegate the task well with the team and utilize the skills of everyone.

Don’t handle the stress alone. Let each and every one of you in the team share the burden. When you do this, you will feel that you are not the only one carrying the load, thus, you will set yourself free from stress.

Practice healthy lifestyle. Sometime you feel stressful because you live in a stressful environment. You need to control the environment where you live. Aside from that, you also have to be consistent with maintaining a healthy body. Eat foods that are nutritious. Avoid drugs, alcohol and other substances. Sanitize your environment, especially your office and bedroom.

If you will not take care of your health, you are prone to stress. Imagine the stress that might be added to you if your health fails. Do not wait for that time to come. Do something right now. Remember that your body can fight stress if it is healthy. Practice a healthy lifestyle and manage your stress.

Listen to your body signals. Your body signals are important. The reason why you get sick is because that is the way your body tells you that you are pushing too hard. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Drink medicine when you need to. Rest if you must. Do not wait for the time when you need to be admitted to the hospital because you failed to listen to your body signals.

If you are just attentive to your body, it tells a lot about your stress. When stress goes to a higher level, the body normally reacts. As a result, you will get sick, not able to get enough sleep, experience diarrhea, hyperacidity, and the like. Pay attention to your body before it’s too late.

Stay away from stressful events. Stressful events include misunderstandings, quarrels, bad arguments, etc. These are indeed stressful. And it happens in your work, studies, and relationships. The people around you have the capacity to hurt you. They also have the capacity to make or break your day. When you are faced with circumstances like this, it is better to apply the “theory of flight.”

You don’t have to fight back sometimes. You don’t have to hassle yourself over silly, small things. Sometimes these things are not worth your attention. The reason why you have a day off is because you need to sort things out and recover your focus. If you still consider your day off a working day, you deprived yourself of your right to take a rest. Take time to relax and do the things that you love doing. This is a form of managing your stress.

Exercise. If there is one thing that you need to consider the most, it is exercise. Study shows that people who are exercising are happier than those who don’t. You don’t need to spend the whole day exercising. You only have to spend a little time of your day stretching those lazy bones and muscles and probably have enough sunlight in the morning to be energized. This is a way for you to increase physical stamina in order to handle stress very well.

Share your burden. If you will not talk about your stress, you will find yourself carrying it all alone. One of the best solutions to that is to talk about it. But do not just talk about it to anyone. Share your burden with people you trust the most. These people are probably your friends and family members who care about you. With this, you will be able to express your emotions and get comfort from them.
