  • Lack of concentration at daytime. Your concentration is affected if you haven’t get enough sleep. You will feel sleepy at daytime. And sometimes when you sleep, you cannot. Well, that is frustrating. If you have a very tough decision to make or crucial job to do and you cannot concentrate, you may want to tell someone and leave that for the next day.   • Lying awake for a long time. The amount of time that you have spent lying in your bed before sleeping is a measure of how quick you are to sleep.   • Still stressed after sleeping. The reason why you are sleeping is because you want to be refreshed.   • Takes sleeping pills and drinks alcohol in order to sleep. If you want to go to sleep all you need to do is lie down, close your eyes, turn off the light, and voila! If you cannot do that and you need to take sleeping pills or drink alcohol in order to catch your sleep, there is a problem. While sleeping pills and alcohol can give you the possibility of sleeping, they are indications that you find it hard to sleep. And because of that you are insomniac.
  • Tired but can’t sleep. Normally, if you are tired, you will crave for rest. And the best rest that you can avail is sleeping. If you have been working the whole day, your body will experience fatigue. And through the process of homeostasis, it will tend to go back to its normal state by getting enough sleep. This is the reason why the next day you can go to work again. But how about if you haven’t get enough sleep the night before? Well, that is not normal. That is a problem. If you desire to wake up too early in the morning, there is no problem with that. You probably had set your body clock on that time out of necessity – say, you need to go to work or go to school. But if you do not desire to wake up that early and still your body obliges you to, that is a different scenario. You need to observe your patter of waking up.   • You wake up and cannot go back to sleep. I know this is frustrating. You may try sleeping as early as 8 and wake up at 10 or 11 and cannot go back to sleep.
